Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: How much does the test cost? -

Antigen: $100 per test

Antigen+Flu: $145 per test

Molecular(NAAT): $125 per test

Antibody: $100 per test

PCR At-Home Test: $175 per test

Travel-Ready Abbott BinaxNow Test: $109.99 for 2 tests

Q2: Can you bill my insurance?

No, medical and prescription insurances cannot be billed by any of our pharmacies and this is an out-of-pocket test. However, patients may submit a manual claim to their medical insurance for possible reimbursement, after their test. This will be the responsibility of the patient, and not Pharmacy. The pharmacy does provide the necessary information to submit the insurance, and that information is included in our official pdf results document that is available upon request. Click HERE to view Health Benefit Claim forms for some of the most common insurances. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure they are filling out the proper form.

Q3: How long will it take to get the results?

You will receive the results same-day as your sample collection, but usually within a few hours.

Q4: Who is administering the test?

For the protection of our customers and staff, we require customers to swab themselves to get the sample. The process is very easy and painless, only needing to swab the inside of the nostril for 5 seconds on each side.

Q5: How will my results be sent to me?

We will send your results via text. The text will also include an email to contact for a pdf copy for official documentation, if desired.

Q6: What type of COVID-19 test are you using?

We provide the rapid ANTIGEN and MOLECULAR (NAAT) COVID-19 test, which detects active infections. We also offer antibody tests to detect past infection/immunity.

Q7: What ages do you offer the test for?

We currently offer the test for patients ages 5 and over. We are working on being able to offer the test on younger patients, and will notify customers when available for younger patients.

Q8: What is the accuracy of the COVID-19 rapid antigen test?

The manufacturer of the test we use lists the positive percent agreement (PPA) of the test as 84%, and the negative percent (NPA) agreement as 100%.

Q9: Will a negative test result be acceptable for travel purposes?

Guidelines and requirements for travel change frequently and are always evolving. We highly recommend that you check, with your desired destination for guidance, BEFORE your trip and booking a testing appointment, if a certain type of test is required. We offer both an Antigen and Molecular (NAAT) rapid test, that may suffice for your travel destination. Always check to make sure the test you order will be accepted.

Q10: What do I do about my result?

Please see the following document for positive results: https://bit.ly/0DVYyMC

Please see the following document for negative results: https://bit.ly/10NyY5N

Rapid Antigen Test

Antigen tests are immunoassays that detect the presence of a specific viral antigen, which implies current viral infection. Antigen tests are currently authorized to be performed on nasopharyngeal or nasal swab specimens placed directly into the assay’s extraction buffer or reagent.

Rapid antigen tests perform best when the person is tested in the early stages of infection with SARS-CoV-2 when viral load is generally highest. They also may be informative in diagnostic testing situations in which the person has a known exposure to a confirmed case of COVID-19. Sample Collection Method: Antigen tests require a non-invasive nasal swab (both nostrils) to collect a proper sample for testing.

Rapid Molecular (NAAT) Test

Molecular tests are also known as Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAAT) and are based on detection of the virus's genetic material in a sample from the patient's nose. These types of tests are described as typically highly accurate. The Abbott ID NOW uses isothermal technology, proprietary enzymes and constant temperature control to achieve the fastest available RNA amplification. This proven molecular system greatly reduces the time for results, allowing healthcare providers to make patient care decisions sooner. Some hospitals use it to test patients before surgery.

Sample Collection Method: To conduct a test, a non-invasive swab of the nose is taken (both nostrils). Then, the swab is placed into an acidic liquid solution heated to 132.8⁰ F that cracks open the envelope of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, exposing its viral RNA.

Rapid Antibody Test

In general, a positive antibody test is presumed to mean a person has been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, at some point in the past. It does not mean they are currently infected. Antibody test results should NOT be used to diagnose someone with an active infection. Antibodies start developing within 1 to 3 weeks after infection. We currently don’t have enough information yet to say whether someone will definitely be immune and protected from reinfection if they have antibodies to the virus.

Sample Collection Method: The antibody test requires the collection of a small blood sample from patients. Samples are collected via a fingerprint, and the collection of a drop of blood.
